RAIN WATER
We live on the driest continent in the world so it makes good sense to utilise our rainwater to
its full capacity. Rainwater tanks are the best way for us to harvest what falls out of the sky &
in most cases is lost to evaporation or outflow to the sea. By harvesting the rainwater into
rainwater tanks we can use it to flush our toilets, wash our clothes, wash our cars, top up
swimming pools & keep our gardens alive. As Melbournes rainfall continues to diminish it is
even more important that we install rainwater tanks to make the most of this valuable
commodity.
With the desalination plant about to go online in 2012 the cost of water consumption will go
through the roof. Even if our rainfall was to increase after 2012 the cost of running the
desalination plant will be passed on to the consumer. With this in mind we need to act now &
install rainwater tanks & harvest as much rainwater as we can in an effort to help the
environment & make the most of what we take for granted.
